0 vs Johnstown YFC 5 (29.03.08)
Everyone focussed on the job in hand today with Johnstown
committed to their non stop attacking style and keen to
set the record straight found themselves with a renewed
confidence and were back to winning ways.
Man of the Match
George Roberts
Johnstown
YFC 2 vs. FC Borras Rangers 2 (22.03.08)
Tight game, first half all of the possession was Johnstown,
well played the under 13's and Tristan scoring again after
coming on as a sub in the second half.
Man of the Match
Jamie Bartlett
Brickfield
Rangers 1 vs. Johnstown YFC under 13's 8 (09.02.08)
Great result today for the
boys with Matty Jones opening and also scoring a great free
kick which flew into the top left hand corner to make it
2 to the visitors, Dean Williams never to shy away when
opportunity knocks made it 4 - 0 before half time.
With Dean completing his hat
trick and goals coming from Josh Millington, Alex Williams
and sub Tristan Richards Johnstown enjoyed the outing, however
a fine goal from a Brick field midfielder proved that the
home side consistently pressed throughout the match.
JYFC U13's back four once
again proved their strength and character as George Roberts
leadership at the back and Jack Roberts superb tackling
demonstrated this defensive partnership is second to none.
Dean Lewis and Alex Williams
aggressive and non stop winning mentality is a perfect recipe
for future games.
Well done Matty Smith constantly
looking to lay the ball off for a goal hungry Deano and
respect for Harry Jones and Matty Jones who were creative
and constructive in the middle of the park with a never
say die attitude.
Good play by Tom Reeves who
set up Tristan and Bradley Hughes who created one of the
neatest passes for Dean's third.
Well done lads, see you Saturday.
Man of the match Harry Jones.
Johnstown Youth under 13's 2 Brymbo under 13's 3 (12.01.08)
Goalscorers: Matty Smith and
Brad Hughes.
Brymbo were the better side, Johnstown played better in
the 2nd half when they were unlucky with one shot which
hit the post and couldn't find the net with 2 free kicks.
Johnstown
Youth under 13's 5 Rhosddu under 13's 0 (05.01.08)
First game after the Christmas
break and the under 13’s took on Rhosddu at home.
Johnstown would not let Rhosddu out of their own half and
after the trademark attack by the home side the scoring
was opened by Dean Williams strike with Matty Jones left
foot shot following close behind to make it 2-0, Bradley
Hughes made it 3-0 with Dean getting his second to make
it 4 to Johnstown before half time.
A quieter second half from
the home side, but great defensively with the back four
Alex Williams George Roberts Dean Lewis and Jack Roberts
standing strong and repelling any form of attack that was
allowed to break through.
Substitutions were made with
20 minutes left and the blu-touch paper was ignited once
again as Vito Sardella crossed a perfect ball for Jake Dodd
to hit the post.
Josh Millington was fouled
in the box and was awarded a penalty late on in the second
half and after an awesome display in the centre of defence
Jack Roberts was elected by his mates to take the strike,
which finished the game off at 5-0. Rhosddu fought hard
and had some really good talent and fight about them but
the team spirit and unity with this team now into their
second league season is second to none.
Borras Park Albion under 14's 7 vs. Johnstown Youth under
13's 1 (15.12.07)
League Cup and top of the under 14's
league BPA, 12 months older does make a difference but not
to the "never say die" attitude of the under 13's
at Johnstown. A tremendous team effort again and a consistent
performance throughout the match but with no luck today.
Dean Williams lob was an excellent consolation goal but
man of the match this week goes to Jack Roberts who was
solid at the back.
Coedpoeth 0 vs. Johnstown Youth 9 (08.12.07)
Unfortunately
I was unable to make this fixture but responsibility was
left with the new assistant manager Gary Lewis who reported
a great all round performance from all team players with
great goals coming from Dean Williams who netted 5, Josh
Millington with 2 and Matty Smith and Matty Jones with one
each.
Man of the match must go to Deano Williams scoring a bag
full against his old club.

Chirk Youth FC v Johnstown
Youth FC (03.11.07)
The under 13’s needed
the 3 points from this match and were taking no chances
after the brave efforts of Chirk at their last meeting.
However the lightning attack of Johnstown was evident from
the kick off never letting up and maintaining their assault
throughout the match like 11 Ricky Hattons' in the third
round of a title fight.
Great goals coming from Dean Williams, Joshua Millingtgon
and Matty Jones but Mathew Smith finishing this season has
been clinical.
The whole team performance was solid, reliable and unselfish
trusting each other and working together like a military
machine.
The end result was inevitable with Johnstown hitting Chirk
for 6.

Johnstown Youth F.C. v Mold (28.10.07)
The
under 13’s were expecting this fixture to be a real
test and their expectations were justified. Johnstown were
electric from the kick off with every player competent in
the tasks that lay ahead against last seasons league champions,
as usual they attacked with speed and precision with Dean
setting up Matty Smith who under pressure from a strong
solid Mold defence drove the ball hard and low to make 1-
0, Johnstown kept up the pressure and a late challenge on
Dean Williams awarded the home team a penalty which was
smashed home by Matty Jones – 2-0. Harry Jones heading
to clear off the line in the first half was also a memorable
moment.
Mold Juniors hit back twice and were quite physical in the
second half of the match but Johnstown were never going
to yield and the order of the day was “stand strong,
stand proud”.
There was a great defensive display by the back four throughout
the match working well together. Jamie Bartlett man of the
match was outstanding in goal and Alex Williams worked hard
standing in for the injured George.
Good football, good team spirit,
good team performance.
Johnstown Youth F.C. v Chirk (13.10.07)
With
Chirk at the bottom of the table everyone expected this
to be a walkover but that could not have be further from
the truth.
Every time Johnstown attacked they were repelled by a Chirk
blockade or were ruled offside. The duck was eventually
broken before halftime when Dean Williams cleverly lobbed
the keeper and Matty Jones dribbled into their defensive
stronghold twice in the second half and Dean scoring again
to make it four.
Chirk battled throughout the game and made it difficult
for us break through, not the best game of football but
a real challenge nonetheless

Aelwyd v Johnstown Youth F.C. (06.10.07)
United v City, Liverpool v Everton, Tottenham v Arsenal,
forget it
The biggest derby of the season in youth football with the
team firing on all cylinders the scene was set for a demonstration
of pure class in the youth football league. The whistle
blew to mark the kick off and attacking football from both
sides was the order of the day. Rhos Aelwyd went 1-0 in
front only for Matty Jones to equalize, after that Matty
Smith scored from a corner and Matty J curled in his second
making it 1- 3 to Johnstown, Dean Williams always reliable
finding the onion bag and Josh Millington scoring late in
the second half. Rhos battled throughout and came back strong
in the second half but they had not read the script as Johnstown
were a little bit special today.
Hats off to Alex W, George R (get that wrist sorted), Jack
R, Tom R, Jamie B, Harry J, Dean L and subs who kept up
the momentum when they came on Jake D, Callum J, Vito S.
Good luck and best wishes to Bethan J who is leaving the
Under 13's after 4 years with Johnstown Youth.
Bethan leaves to concentrate on girls football where she
will be able to progress as the extremely talented player
she is.
Good Luck from everyone at Johnstown Youth.
Johnstown
Youth F.C. v Brickfield Rangers F.C. (29/09/07)
This
fixture was going to be a tough one from the start after
losing to Brickfield at Court Road at the end of last season.
Kicking off at 10:30 we started
well having most of the possession unfortunately we did
not take our chances and Brickfield went one up, but a strong
display of determination and massive effort saw the score
line alter until the teams were drawing 2 – 2 late
in the second half with goals from Dean Williams and Matty
Smith.
With not much time remaining
on the clock Brickfield mounted an all out assault and made
it 3 – 2 but the Matty Jones and Harry Jones combination
in midfield had not read the script along with battle hardened
veterans Josh Millington, Bradley Hughes, Callum Jones,
Thomas Reeves, Alex Williams, Jack Roberts, George Roberts,
Dean Lewis and Jamie Bartlett pulling out all the stops
for Dean to smash home the late equaliser. A great demonstration
of youth football played in the right spirit of the game
by both sides but Johnstown showed off their never surrender
attitude to claw back and salvage a needed point from the
game.

Vets (and Dads) v Johnstown Youth U13’s (22.09.07)
No fixture
today however the U 13 squad challenged the old men to a
game and with the average age of the vets around 40 years
old the youth team assumed it would be a walkover –
never assume.
The old men took control of the game early on as they kept
possession and passed the ball around like Brazil, Captain
Mel Robson Roberts commanding the midfield
like Norman Schwartzkopf directing operation desert storm,
good display of fitness from Steve Lineker
Williams although he promises to bring his glasses for any
future fixtures, cracking goals though from Mel and Steve
Ronaldo (Reeves) Gary Owen
Lewis and Jono Barry Shaw, Kev Pallister
Millington was in fine form as centre half and Ryan Raggsy
Giggs running down the wings with a bag
of Golden Virginia in one hand and an Oxygen tank in the
other was a sight I’ll never forget, half time and
Gary Owen Lewis and Steve tormented their
defence while our own defence went missing as Jaffa tripped
over an aggressive daisy and went off before the end, Jono
and Gav Edwards now the youngest of the vets punishing the
youth team with attacking displays that reminded me of Bodie
and Doyle after a Blackpool stag night. Well done
to Vito Cudicini having a great game in goal for the vets
on his birthday.
Alex one and Dean two, sorry boys – Resistance
is futile.

Johnstown Youth F.C.
v Llangollen F.C. (15.09.07)
Sat 15th September and weather perfect for our first fixture
of the season at home to Llangollen, all players arriving
early and keen to shake off the defeat of a pre-season friendly
against Park Youth earlier in the week. The players warmed
up and after a brief team talk the first eleven were picked
and were confident of achieving the first three points of
the season unfortunately we were informed that Llan were
a player short, this immediately put pressure on the opposition
and 5 minutes after kicking off we were 1 – 0 up with
Matty picking up a deflection off a Llan defender and slotting
in what was the first of a Johnstown onslaught.
All credit to Llangollen with only 10 men on the pitch and
playing away from home it was always going to be a struggle
for them but Johnstown who were determined to shake off
their midweek blues demonstrated their passing and scoring
ability with goals coming from Matty J - 7, Dean W - 5,
Matty S - 2, Harry J - 1, Alex W - 1, Josh M - 1, Tristan
R - 1 and Callum J - 2.
Congratulations to all players
that were successful in the County trials.
Johnstown
Youth F.C. v Rhos Aelwyd F.C. (08.09.07)
An unexpected phone call from the Rhos Manager prompted
me to rally the troops for a match that every player parent
and official of both teams would enjoy. The football was
great from both sides and with the history of the final
and penalty shoot out that awarded victory to Rhos the under
13's were not going to yield. The performance from the back
four was strong and Jack's pace proved vital in stopping
their striker. It was always going to be a tight game with
Rhos coming back well and also showing great spirit but
Johnstown held the lead and it finished 5 - 4 to the home
team.
Johnstown
Youth F.C. v F.C. Borras Rangers (06.09.07)
Last season we were successful against this team three times
but each time we have had to work harder against an ever
improving Borras side, this fixture was much the same as
they had improved, we struggled in the first half and also
conceded a goal giving them the edge before we went into
the second half. The confidence and team spirit at Johnstown
is something else with a different team running out second
half and an attacking display that was likened to - the
charge of the Light Brigade, and although Borras defended
well they could not stop the inevitable with Smithy's composed
strike demoralising their defence to finish 1 - 1.
Johnstown
Youth F.C. V Coedpoeth United
The under 13 section of the club have recently played three
friendly fixtures held at the circle Johnstown, the first
was against Coedpoeth United and as we have not met officially
in the league for a couple of seasons the players were looking
forward to a new challenge.
The players arrived on time but we soon realised we were
without both our keepers through injury. Alex volunteered
to keep goal and we started, the first half was fast paced
with Dean getting a hat trick against his old club, goal
also from Matty with Josh scoring in the second half.
The back four must take some credit for the result as they
worked hard together as a unit breaking down the strong
Coedy attack under the reliable leadership of George. Coedpoeth
scored a consolation goal in the second half and battled
well the whole game but quick passing play from Johnstown
resulted in 5 - 1 to the home side.
